Trudi Lacey, MS, CPCC, CPT is a currently the Director of Athletics at Johnson & Wales University, Charlotte campus. In two short years she has elevated the athletic programs to national prominence. Winning two National Championships, producing 19 All–Americans, 23 Academic All-Americans with an overall GPA for athletes of a 3.05, and being named 2018 USCAA Athletic Director of the Year.
She is the author of two books, From Trials to Triumphs and Coach Yourself to Greatness.
Lacey is also the founder of the Lacey Foundation for Sports Leadership, which leverages the power of sports to teach life and leadership skills.
Lacey is a well-known and respected motivational speaker at national conferences, universities and sporting events throughout the country. She holds a Master’s Degree from North Carolina State University in Sports Management. She was an All – American at N.C. State University and was named a Top 50 All – Legend ACC team member. She played for the late Hall of Fame coach Kay Yow.
Formerly, Lacey served as head coach and general manager of the WNBA Charlotte Sting and Washington Mystics. Her basketball-coaching career spans more than 20 years and features work with professional, Olympic and collegiate athletes. In addition to her numerous years working in the WNBA as a coach, Lacey was a key contributor with USA Basketball working with the gold medal men’s and women’s basketball teams at the 2000 summer Olympic games in Sydney, Australia.
An active member of the Charlotte Community, she serves on the board of directors for the CIAA and is president of the Eastern Metro Athletic Conference.
