eWomenNetwork Foundation
Foundation Update
By Linda Perreault
Foundation Executive Director
Those lucky enough to be in attendance at eWomenNetwork's 5th Annual Conference and Business Expo will all agree that the Foundation Awards Night this year was more magical and unforgettable than ever! The entire opening gala on Thursday night was dedicated to our spirit of givingas you are about to discover!
To begin the evening's recognition program, over $100,000 in cash and services from the eWomenNetwork Foundation was granted to 16 non-profit organizations ranging from children's' shelters to education programs helping women enter or re-enter the work force. Gala attendees were able to see first hand how non-profit organizations are truly making a difference as this year's grantees from all over North America were introduced.

This year the eWomenNetwork Foundation recognized several outstanding women, some just beginning their careers, and others who have achieved tremendous heights in their professional lives, with the International Femtor® Award.
In the Emerging Leader category, 19 young women in their twenties from all across the United States and Canada were granted an International Femtor Award along with a scholarship to attend this year's Conference. 100% of the funds used for these scholarships were raised by eWomenNetwork chapters to allow these young women the opportunity to benefit from networking with experienced business women.

As the evening progressed, an electrifying moment took place when Lynette Johnson, our next International Femtor Awardee, was honored as the 2005 Humanitarian of the Year. In this photo, Lynette is caught off guard on stage and is being greeted by Alice Adams, a surprise guest and young mother. Alice lost her first child two years ago because of the devastating effects of birth trauma, and was featured with Lynette in the April 2005 issue of People Magazine. (Alice and her husband, Dave, are pictured here with Henry, their healthy baby boy born in March of this year, along with Lynette and Sandra Yancey.) Two years ago Alice was able to have Lynette photograph her child, Josiah, as a lasting remembrance of a beautiful life cut short.
More than 17 years ago Lynette began her amazing work volunteering in hospitals where critically ill children die leaving families with only painful memories. Lynette's photographs many times are the only treasured keepsake these families have of their beloved child. Lynette is a true "she'ro" and is a shining example for all who want to make a personal difference in the lives of others.
On a lighter note, Nely Galan, CEO and President of Galan Entertainment and creator of the hit TV show, "The Swan," was the recipient of this year's International Femtor Award for Outstanding Media Achievement. Nely held us spellbound with her own story of rags to riches with humor and tears. Nely also helped the Foundation receive an additional $60,000 that night as a result of the live auction that was held.
Each one of the participants of this year's Conference had a chance to play an active part in the eWomenNetwork Foundation. Through our Purse Power of Women®, the Pampering Spa®, our Evening of Chocolate Decadence®, and Tiffany & Co.'s "Keys for a Cause," over $200,000 was raised for the Foundation in only 3 1/2 daysfour times the amount raised last year.
