Unprecedented Opportunities for Women in 2006

A great benefit of leading an organization like eWomenNetwork is the access I have to the constant stream of suggestions and feedback we receive from our members. One of the reasons I travel to as many of our chapters throughout North America as possible each year is to personally connect with women face-to-face to glean information and perspectives from them about:

1.What they need to achieve their objectives, and

2.What they see as the roadblocks to achieving their goals. 

The power of seeing you on my tour is particularly profound, as we can engage in deeper conversations and exchange feelings and observations when we are together.

When you peel back the artichoke and get to the heart of the challenges facing women business owners and professionals, it all boils down to “relationships”.

There isn’t one issue or roadblock that I have heard from women that could not be solved with the right relationship(s).  

For example,

When a woman tells me she needs more revenue, what she is actually saying is, “I don’t have enough relationships with profitable clients.”

When a woman tells me that she needs to increase her cash flow, what she is really saying is, “I need a better relationship with a finance professional like a good banker, CPA, advisor or business strategist.”

Try this yourself. Think of any issue you are faced with, whether it is business or personal, and then ask yourself “If I had a relationship with an expert who solves this particular challenge, could she make a difference for me?"  I can assure you that relationships make the difference.

 In fact, relationships are so important  to your success that I believe if you want to change your life, change your relationships!  Focus both on adding new relationships and eliminating relationships that aren't positive forces in your life.

The key to understanding and maximizing the power of strong relationships is vision.  A woman makes a huge error in judgment if she thinks the woman she is talking to can't benefit her based solely on that woman's title or profession.  A woman’s title or profession is not all that she is.  

Smart and savvy networkers know better. They understand that, with cultivation, each and every relationship can yield a harvest. Think of it as planting a packet of seeds.  We plant each seed in the same soil.  We water all the seeds evenly.  Some sprout early, some sprout later, and some never sprout at all.  Nonetheless, we have done our best to cultivate each one.

By investing in every relationship you will discover that additional connections, relationships and business will appear from the most unexpected places.  Some of my biggest opportunities came from women whose titles and/or professions did not indicate that they would have been a key business asset.

networkingAccelerated Networking chapter events are held in Country Clubs or upscale restaurant venues monthly. At each event you will be personally introduced to up to 20 potential customers or resources. There is always a subject matter expert (speaker) at these events who also provides 20 minutes worth of ideas and insights. The average attendance range is 50 - 90.

Breakthroughs Over Breakfast events are held throughout the year, about one every 2 – 3 months. Attendance is limited to only 25. Each attendee is personally introduced and shares with the audience what she does and is encouraged to express to the attendees what she specifically needs. There is always a subject matter expert (speaker) who shares a breakthrough idea or strategy followed by Q & A with the audience.

Strategic Business Introduction events are held throughout the year, about one every 4 – 6 weeks. Attendance is limited to only 12. These are more in-depth events and there is never a speaker. These events tend to attract more established, million dollar business owners.

chocdecEvening of Chocolate Decadence events are held throughout the year in upscale venues, about 2 – 4 per year. Attendance for these events can range between 80 – 150 at our local chapter locations. During the eWomenNetwork International Conference, held annually, attendance swells to up over 1,000 for our Evening of Chocolate Decadence event held the Saturday night of our conference which in 2006 will be July 15. The proceeds from these events help fund the eWomenNetwork Foundation. At the local events, two rounds of “Accelerated Networking” are conducted. Not only are these fabulous networking events and perfect for making great connections, but they are “delicious” too!

Women’s Sales & Marketing Summit events occur once annually in select chapter cities all over North America. The speakers include a keynote presentation from Sandra Yancey, founder & CEO, eWomenNetwork, and an esteemed panel of marketing, sales and public relations experts. The eWomen Speaker Showcase is an annual event that showcases dynamic women speakers. Offerred as part of the key event of the eWomenSpeakersNetwork, the purpose of this event is to introduce corporations, associations, meeting planners, program directors, colleges and universities to the great female speakers of today. The 2006 eWomenSpeakerShowcase will be held July 12, 2006 in Dallas one day prior to the start of the eWomenNetwork International Conference & Business Expo.
