Origins Raises the Bar on Organic Expectations
Introducing Origins Organics™, the first full line of prestige skin, body and hair care products certified according to USDA NOP standards

Since its inception in 1990, Origins Natural Resources has been committed to providing naturally-based beauty offerings that promote beauty and wellness. As the organic movement began to spread its wings from the produce aisles of grocery stores, Origins waited somewhat impatiently for organic capabilities to stretch to the beauty-care arena. In 2007, Origins’ takes its natural premise one giant leap further, changing the beauty landscape by providing consumers with a new choice in personal care products through an all-new collection of skin, body and hair care products certified to meet United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Organic standards.

What does “Organic” really mean?
Organic refers to the way agricultural ingredients are grown and processed. Organic products are grown according to the laws of nature – using only National Organic Program (NOP) approved fertilizers, soil supplements and methods of pest control. Organic producers seek to reduce or eliminate reliance on practices that harm soil life, deplete nonrenewable resources or pose hazards to air and water quality. In many countries, Organic farming is specifically defined; depending on the country in question, the use of the term “Organic” may be regulated by the government or there may be private organizations that can certify products as compliant with their Organic standards.
In the US, the use of the term Organic, as applied to foods is regulated by the USDA under its National Organic Program (NOP). The standards set by the NOP and its certification program are some of the most stringent Organic standards in the world. There are many different Organic certifying bodies around the world. Some are government regulated while other like the Soil Association in the UK and EcoCert in Europe, are private organizations that certify products based on their own standards.

What is the difference between “Natural” and “Organic”?
Organic refers to items that are produced, manufactured and handled in accordance with stringent approved methods of agriculture. Natural products are those derived from natural ingredients like a plant source, which retain their “natural properties” in the finished product.

What are the benefits of “Organic”?
Organic farming standards prohibit the use of toxic and persistent chemical pesticides and fertilizers to help sustain the global health and well-being of our planet. This protects our water resources and done in combination with soil building, helps to protect our water supply.
